  1. Learn the difference between reaction and response. A mature Christian may react when offended, but he or she will quickly allow the Word of God to rise to the top and then respond in the character and fruit of the Holy Spirit.

  2. Don?t nurse and rehearse ? release and disburse. If you pick at a natural wound, it will not heal, so it is with offense.

  3. Yield. If two people are pulling in opposite directions, neither of them will go anywhere. (Ecc. 10:4; Prov. 15:1)

  4. See through the trap. Whatever you are learning about from the Word of God, Satan will come to attempt to steal what you are learning and rob you of living an abundant life. Don?t focus on the motives of the person who offended you, but rather on the motives of Satan. (II Cor. 2:10-11; John 10:10; Matt. 13:19 )

  5. Forget your reputation. If you have a good reputation, you have to fight to keep it. If you have a bad reputation you have to repair it. If you have no reputation, you don?t care. Jesus made Himself of no reputation. You deal with your character, let God deal with your reputation. (Phil 2:7)

  6. Stop sowing offense towards others. When someone offends you, ask yourself this question: Are they sowing or am I reaping? Remember the scripture, ?Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap?. Galatians 6:7

  7. Learn rightness vs. righteousness. Just because you have a right to do something, doesn?t mean it is the right thing to do. (I Cor. 8:12-13; Rom. 14:14-19)

  8. Take injustice. Let yourself be taken advantage of. The scripture says, ?As it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us?. Romans 8:36-37. It may look like they are going to win, but God will come in and take care of your situation. (I Cor. 6:1-3)

  9. Don?t consume your thoughts with setting things in order. The odds are that the person who offended you has moved on, don?t waste your life ? you move on too!

  10. Saturate yourself with the Word of God. By keeping your heart filled with and your mind focused on the Word of God, nothing will offend you. (Psalm 119:165)
